The question of what our callings are, is something we all ask? We all remember being kids and our teachers asking us what we wanted to be when we grew up? At the time we would say teacher, artist, fireman or some sort of career that involved singing and dancing. As we grow up, this question becomes more and more pressing. In highschool, you begin to dream of far off cities and college. Personally, I had great dreams. However, they always seemed more of a distant thought than something that could actually come to fruition. Then again, my parents always encouraged me to pursue anything on my heart.
I thought college would solve all my problems in the question of my destiny, however I soon learned that I had gone into school with very little foundation of what I was passionate about. I went to school with the plan of pursuing a career in justice. Where, when, and how, I had no idea. Then after a year and half struggling through my core classes, trying to figure out what I was actually paying $8,000 a year for, God grabbed hold of me. He met me at a concert through a random woman, who told me to look into a program called YWAM. At the moment I was sinking into the swirl of “why am I even in school”, and God provided my answer. He took me on a journey to Hawaii where I met Him authentically for one of the first times of my life. And then to New Zealand where I experienced the heartbreaking reality of our world from the view of God’s eyes, and I knew what God had put on my heart.
Identity. I am passionate about partnering with God to see women step into their identity as daughters. I am able to align with God’s heart in catalyzing the identity of women who don’t know the original design God has for them. Women in our world experience identity loss at a rapid rate. Social media, comparison, and pride have been the biggest attack that has come against women and their identity.
Throughout the past year, God has been genuinely breaking my heart for women working in red light districts around the world. A red light district is a “ part of an urban area where a concentration of prostitution and sex-oriented businesses, such as sex shops, strip clubs, and adult theaters, are found.” In some parts of the world, these areas are where men and women are allowed to legally prostitute themselves, with no consequences. In other areas of the world, they are places where sex trafficking runs rampant because there is little to no law enforcement managing the area.
In addition to red light districts, I also have a passion to see human trafficking and sex trafficking ended in my generation. Even before coming into full alignment of who God has called me to be, He spoke to me out the injustices happening around the world to men, women and children, and put it on my heart to pursue a career in this field.
God has given me the gift and privilege of sharing the wisdom He’s imparted to me, with others. He’s also equipped me to go to the nations to tell others the Good News of the Gospel. I am also called to unify women together under and through the genuine love of Jesus.
I have committed two years to full-time missions with YWAM. God has called me back into education after these two years to finish getting equipped into what He has called me to. At the moment, I am planning on going back to school and finishing my degree in criminal justice. With this, God has given me the vision to start a house church with my good friend when we head back to school. In addition, we plan on continuing ministry in our everyday lives in college as well.
After I finish my degree and all the practical training God calls me to complete, I plan on heading back into the nations to help people around the world in the ways God has called me to. I have a heart for Europe, specifically the Netherlands and Norway, but also India and Thailand. I’m not sure of the specific timeline, but I know God is faithful in what He says and I'm so excited to find out the amazing plans He has!
